Chicken Education Required by Independence Chicken Ordinance

The new Chicken Ordinance in Independence requires a certification of completion from a chicken husbandry course, or a completed quiz contained at the end of the City of Independence "Primer for Keeping of Backyard Chickens"

Here is your chance for a great free class! 

If you plan or hope for backyard hens this year, this free class will provide enough information for you to feel more confident. Still wondering if you want backyard hens - this is the place to gather the information you need. If you live in Independence, this class will help you meet one of the requirements of the new ordinance. I hope you can make time - it is a great opportunity and fun to boot. MI Chicken Revolution sends heartfelt thanks to Ag West Supply Farm Store in Rickreall!

Dave Boswell and the good folk at Ag West Supply Farm Store in Rickreall hosted an absolutely fabulous Poultry 101 Class on Friday, March 16, 2012. Guest speakers Darci Poage from from Veterinary Services, Inc and Scott Wegner from Purina Mills provided detailed information and answered many questions from the crowd.  In addition, coops and supplies where on display and available for sale.   Thank you Ag West & Purina and thank you Nate Rafn of Living Culture TV for shooting some film of this event!

Ag West Supply Farm Store, Rickreall and The Old Mill Feed & Garden Store, Dallas are prepared to help you with backyard chicken.  In addition, our local hardware stores in Independence and Monmouth are keen to offer support, as well.  When you stop by these shops be sure to tell them you are part of the MI Chicken Revolution and thank them for their support.
